3 Signs Your Child Is Ready for Preschool

As a parent, you get to make the choice of whether or not your child goes to preschool, as well as when they go. This can sometimes be a hard decision for you to make because of how emotional it is. You may not be ready to let them go to preschool, but they may feel ready to go. The key is to see how they are acting and see if they show signs that they are ready to begin preschool and that it will actually be very beneficial for them. This article will discuss 3 signs that your child is ready for preschool.

They Want to Socialize More

If your child talks about playing with friends more or otherwise interacting with kids their age, this is a good sign that they are ready to attend preschool. They will learn a great deal of socializing with their peers when they attend preschool, and it will expose them to a lot of social realizations.

Some of these realizations may include learning that others don't always think as they do, taking turns, respecting others space, listening to adults (specifically their teacher), and more. These are skills that will help them with their future school, as well as clear into adulthood, so the earlier that you start them the better it generally is.

They Are Potty Trained

A lot of preschools require that your child is potty trained before they are able to attend. This is because it is important that they are able to go to the bathroom on their own, without the help of any adults. This is something that generally happens around 2–4 years old, which is a fairly large range. However, keep in mind that just because your child is potty trained doesn't necessarily mean they are ready to head off to preschool. What it does mean is that they are now capable of going to preschool and that you should watch for other signs.

They Want to Learn

If your child is constantly asking you to work on their numbers and letters with them, or simply asking questions in general about things that they will learn in preschool, then this is an excellent sign that they would likely excel in preschool. If a child has a desire to learn, they are going to be much more motivated to work hard and listen when they are in a learning environment. Your child will likely soak up all of the information they learn in preschool like a sponge and will really grow from it and be more prepared for kindergarten.
